Police in Denver took swift action on Tuesday afternoon, shutting down northbound Interstate 25 from Alameda to 8th Avenue following a shooting incident. The situation unfolded near the 8th Avenue exit ramp, as captured by traffic cameras.

The shooting is believed to have taken place on or near the 8th Avenue exit ramp, prompting immediate police intervention. Aerial footage from AirTracker7 revealed the presence of crime tape surrounding a vehicle parked on the off ramp, while law enforcement officers combed the empty interstate in a synchronized manner.

Authorities have refrained from disclosing specific details regarding the circumstances leading up to the shooting, as well as any potential casualties. As a result of the incident, northbound traffic in the affected area experienced significant congestion, causing delays and inconvenience to commuters. At present, there is no official confirmation regarding the timeline for reopening the highway.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a mass shooting took place in downtown Denver, leaving at least nine people injured. The shooting occurred during a celebration of the Nuggets’ NBA championship victory, and shots were fired during an altercation involving multiple individuals.

Police reported that the gunfire took place on Market Street near the intersection with 20th Street, where crowds had gathered to celebrate. Of the nine injured, five are currently hospitalized in fair condition. Police Chief Ron Thomas stated that the shooting is believed to be unrelated to the celebration and may be drug-related. Large amounts of cash and fentanyl pills were found in the area.

Two individuals, Ricardo Vasquez and Raoul Jones, have been taken into custody, with Vasquez facing charges of weapon possession and possession of a controlled substance. The investigation is ongoing, and five weapons have been recovered for testing.
