Former One Direction star Liam Payne has been hospitalized due to severe kidney pain during a romantic getaway to Lake Como in Italy with girlfriend Kate Cassidy, The Sun reported. The 30-year-old singer fell ill during their one-year anniversary celebration at their lakeside property.

Doctors are investigating the recurring kidney problem that had already forced Liam to cancel a tour last month. The singer was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and is currently receiving emergency treatment. Sources reveal that he will remain in the hospital for several days while doctors conduct a battery of tests to understand the underlying issue.

A source close to Liam said, “Liam is in a bad way but he’s in the best place he can be, and finally, doctors will be able to get to the bottom of what is going on. Doctors have warned him not to expect to be signed off to go home for at least another six days.”

This health scare follows Liam’s previous announcement to fans that he had been in the hospital with a serious kidney infection, which led to the cancellation of his first solo tour.

Liam Payne has been open about his health journey, revealing earlier this year that he had spent 100 days in a rehab facility in Louisiana. He discussed his past struggles with alcohol, particularly during his One Direction days when he would frequently empty mini-bars while on tour. However, he expressed that he now has “more of a grip on life.”
