In an Instagram post from June 10, 2023, the Almost Famous actor Billy Crudup and King Kong actress Naomi Watts announced their marriage. She posted a photo of the two in front of what seemed to be a courthouse in Manhattan, Watts sporting a white dress and holding a bunch of flowers.

They got married two months after Watts ignited engagement rumors by appearing on Today while sporting a diamond on her left ring finger.

Since their roles as co-stars in the 2017 Netflix series Gypsy, Watts and Crudup have been linked. Since then, the couple has maintained a very private relationship, appearing together in only a small number of public settings and speaking about one another infrequently.

The two reportedly participated in the 24 Hour Plays on Broadway benefit in 2009 and were seen together at the afterparty, according to Broadway World. Liev Schreiber, who at the time was dating Watts, Jennifer Aniston and Eva Mendes all took part in the charity event, which benefited art education initiatives in New York City public schools.

After 11 years together, Watts and Schreiber announced that they had separated.

In a joint statement, the pair wrote, “Over the past few months we’ve come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple.”

In the fall of 2016, Watts and Crudup started shooting Gypsy for Netflix. Watts plays a therapist in the ten-episode psychological drama who meddles excessively in the lives of her patients. Her husband was portrayed by Crudup.

Watts and Crudup were first photographed in public together several months after filming was finished. When Watts and Crudup were spotted holding hands in New York City in July 2017, it led to dating speculations. The two were seen by a bystander as they entered a café for lunch.

The couple entered the scene holding hands, “looked happy and were laughing a lot, then left again holding hands.”

After nearly five years of dating, Watts and Crudup made their red carpet debut at the 2022 SAG Awards in Santa Monica, California. Crudup was nominated for his role on The Morning Show.
