Authorities have reported that two members of a television news organization were injured, one fatally, in a shooting in Central Florida on Wednesday. The incident occurred when a reporter and photographer from Spectrum News 13 were responding to a fatal shooting in the Pine Hills area, near Orlando. During an evening press conference, Sheriff John Mina stated that both the reporter and photographer were shot, and unfortunately, one of them lost their life.
The identities of the victims and their condition have not been disclosed. In addition to the shooting that claimed the life of the Spectrum News 13 reporter, a nearby home saw a woman and a 9-year-old girl being shot, with the child passing away from her injuries. The motive for the shooter entering the home remains unclear. The shooter, 19-year-old Keith Melvin Moses, has an extensive criminal record. It is unclear whether he had any connection to the media organization or if he was specifically targeting them.
