Tina Turner’s cause of death has been revealed after the legendary singer passed away at the age of 83 in her Switzerland home on Wednesday.

Her reps confirmed to Daily Mail that the Queen of Rock n’ Roll died of natural causes. “With her the world loses a music legend and a role model,” the rep said.

Tina Turner previously battled intestinal cancer and also suffered from high blood pressure for over 40 years prior to her death. Her second and current husband, Erwin Bach, donated his kidney to her during her lifetime, after she once considered assisted suicide in 2016. The very next year Bach donated his kidney to her.

In her memoir, she revealed that she joined an assisted suicide organization as she mentally prepared herself for death. Turner discovered that her kidney damage has been aggravated by her high blood pressure. Hence, she wanted to make peace with the idea of death as her body shut down.

The Simply The Best singer had a stroke in 2013, just three months after marrying  Bach.

Turner wanted her followers to “show their kidneys love” in one of her final social media postings, which was published just weeks before her death.

In honor of World Kidney Day in March, the What’s Love Got to Do With It hitmaker wrote on Instagram, “Today is International World Kidney Day. Why is it important? Because kidneys fail without pain. And that’s why I’m telling you today: Show your kidneys love! They deserve it. My kidneys are victims of my not realising that my high blood pressure should have been treated with conventional medicine. I have put myself in great danger by refusing to face the reality that I need daily, lifelong therapy with medication.

Following the announcement from her publicist on Wednesday, social media was awash with tributes to the late singer. Turner’s death has devastated music fans and celebrities worldwide.

“Tina Turner, the Queen of Rock and Roll, died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland,” says the complete statement confirming Tina’s death.
