Daniel Abed Khalif, currently serving in the British Army, has been charged with terror and explosive offenses on Friday. The Metropolitan Police said that the offenses relate to an incident from August 2021 and on or before January 2023, according to reports from the United Kingdom.

Abed Khalif was under investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command. He is due to appear for a hearing at Westminister Magistrate’s Court on Saturday.

Who is Daniel Abed Khalif?

Daniel Abed Khalif, a resident of Beaconside, Stafford, has been described as a 21-year-old serving member of the British army. It is not clear what exactly his post was.

Metro UK reported that the first of Abed Khalif’s offenses took place on August 2, 2021, in Beaconside, Stafford, Staffordshire. It concerns obtaining or attempting to obtain information that could be useful to a person committing or preparing to commit acts of terror. Abed Khalif was booked under section 58A of the Terrorism Act.

The second incident took place on or before January 2, 2023, in Beaconside, Stafford. Khalif has been charged with placing an article with the intention of explosion or ignition which would lead to personal injury as well as damage to property.

The Metro reports that Khalif is now in the custody of the Metropolitan Police and is likely to be so till he appears in court.
