Less than a day after a gun scare in Regis University’s Northwest Denver campus, a shooting incident has taken place inside the University of Kentucky campus. The overnight incident left one student shot and 10 others injured, all of whom have been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment since then.

According to Lexington police, the shooting took place sometime before Wednesday midnight when two people arrived at a house party inside the University of Kentucky campus, which resulted in a fight.

At least one shot was fired which hit a student in her leg, causing a non-life threatening injury. The gunshot victim was transported to UK Chandler Hospital for treatment. 10 more students were also injured by shrapnel and debris in the incident on Wednesday night.

The authorities have arrested two people in connection with the incident, however, a total of three people have been detained for the fight that broke out at the house party. According to the police, the shrapnel injuries to the 10 students were not caused by firearms and they were also transported to the UK Chandler Hospital.

According to UK and Lexington police, the injuries suffered by all the victims are not life-threatening.

“None of these injuries have been reported as life-threatening right now. Lexington Police has three individuals in reference to this incident which we do believe is contained to a single basement in a residency on University Avenue,” Lieutenant Brian Martin of Lexington Police Department revealed.

The Lexington police authorities also confirmed that the two suspects who were arrested in connection with the house party shooting are not students of the University of Kentucky.

Gun violence in the United States is on the rise and the shooting incident inside the campus of the University of Kentucky came after a day of a gun scare inside a Denver campus of Regis University. The Denver police cleared the campus soon after being notified of an armed individual but were unable to trace the whereabouts of the person in question.
