The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on Sunday that Chicago-based Home Run Inn Frozen Foods is recalling more than 13,000 pounds of frozen meat pizza products that may be “contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically metal.”

The product subjected to recall is 33.5-oz cartons of the company’s “Chicago’s Premium Pizzeria Deluxe Sausage Classic Pizza.” The recalled products were manufactured on June 6, 2022 and have a best by date of December 3, 2022.

“The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 18498-A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to a distributor in Illinois and then further distributed to retailers,” FSIS said in the news release.

The department said the problem was discovered after the company notified them about receiving consumer complaints regarding metal in the pizzas.

“There have been no confirmed reports of injuries or adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider,” FSIS said, adding that the department is “concerned that some products may be in consumers’ freezers or found at distributor and retail locations.”
