At least two people were injured in a shooting incident that took place at the Greenville Mall in North Carolina on Friday. The men were shot near the American Eagle inside the mall shortly after 6.30 pm on Friday. They were rushed to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“At approximately 6:30 p.m. officers responded to the Greenville Mall for reports of a shooting. Two males were shot inside the mall near the area of American Eagle,” Greenville Police tweeted.

In another tweet, the police department said the shooting was not a random act and was a result of a dispute.
“Preliminary information gathered at the scene suggests there was a dispute that occurred, resulting in the two men being shot. The incident does not appear to be a random act,” police said.
The mall has been evacuated.

“Both victims were transported to ECU Health for their injuries. No other injuries have been reported and there is no ongoing threat. The mall has been evacuated as the investigation continues. More information will be released as it becomes available,” police tweeted.
Police are working to gather security camera footage to use in their investigation.

As of Nov. 25, 39,935 people have died from gun-related events in the United States this year, including 18,221 who died by homicide, murder, or an unintentional shooting, in addition to another 21,714 who died by suicide.

The organization defines a mass shooting as an event that killed or injured at least four people, not including the shooter.
