Twenty three elderly people died in Norway after
receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against novel coronavirus. Apart from the
23, many others have fallen sick after getting vaccinated. Following the unusual fatalities, a probe has been launched by the country.

The Norwegian Medicines
Agency has probed 13 of the deaths till now and Sigurd Hortemo, chief physician
at the agency, suggested that common adverse reactions of mRNA vaccines including
fever, nausea and diarrhoea, may have contributed to deadly outcomes in some of
the weak patients.

In its report, the agency
also mentioned that 21 women and eight men had side effects too. Apart from those
who died, nine patients had serious side effects without any deadly result
while seven had less serious side effects. Nine patients showed allergic
reactions, strong discomfort and high fever whereas the less serious side
effects included severe pain at the injection side.

As a result of these
fatalities, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health has updated its
COVID-19 vaccination guide with more detailed guidance on providing vaccines to
the elderly patients who are weak.

According to official
figures, since December end, last year, above 30,000 people have been vaccinated
with the first shot of the Pfizer or
Moderna vaccine in Norway.

Norway has reported 57,279
cases and 511 deaths till now.
