American golfer, Eldrick Tont Woods, 45, is widely recognised as one of the most famous golf players. He has won various tournaments and holds many golf records. 

Woods was nicknamed Tiger by his father. His father named him after a South Vietnamese soldier with whom he had fought alongside during the Vietnam War.

Forbes estimated Wood’s net worth at $800 million in 2018. 

Tiger’s extensive golfing career has earned him many laurels. Woods was honoured with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019. 

He has won the PGA Tour 82 times, tied with Sam Snead. Woods has won the British Open three times, the US Open three times, the PGA Championship four times and the Masters Tournament five times.

Until 2010, Woods was the youngest champion in history to have won the US Junior Amateur Golf Championship. After winning a series of these championships, he turned professional in 1996. 

In May 2020, the golf tournament “The Match: Champions for Charity” was played to raise money for COVID-19 aid. Woods along with Peyton Manning defeated Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady. The event managed to raise $20 million and became the most-watched golf match in the history of cable television with 5.8 million viewers. 

The highly celebrated golf player recently got into a car crash and is undergoing treatment at the moment.
