US President Joe Biden is set to address the nation on January 6 at 9am ET (6am PT; 7.30pm IST) from inside the Capitol, commemorating the one-year anniversary of the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol, on Thursday.

A tweet from White House correspondent Christian Datoc showed excerpts from US President Joe Biden’s speech for his January 6 anniversary address.

“We cannot allow ourselves to be that kind of nation,” a part of the excerpt read.

Biden is shown to be trying to incite and provoke the nation through several questions.

“And so at this moment we must decide what kind of nation we are going to be,” it reads. “Are we going to be a nation where we allow partisan election officials to overturn the legally expressed will of the people? Are we going to be a nation that lives not by the light of the truth but in the shadow of lies?”

The excerpt also revealed a hopeful tone that Biden wants to set for the nation. It read, “The way forward is to recognize the truth and to live by it.”
