Alex Murdaugh, who is currently being evaluated at the Kirkland Correctional Institution in Columbia for 45 days, was seen smiling in his new mugshot picture. In the image, Murdaugh is wearing a white t-shirt beneath a yellow prison jumpsuit.

The nation has been gripped since Alex Murdaugh has been accused of the gruesome double murder of his wife Maggie and son Paul. On June 7, 2021, the mother and son were discovered shot to death at their large estate in Islandton, South Carolina.

The accused hails from a long line of illustrious lawyers in South Carolina. Three generations of his family, including his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, all held the position of a solicitor in the 14th Judicial Circuit solicitor’s office.

Murdaugh’s motive, according to the prosecution, was his urgency to divert attention from a series of alleged financial misdeeds that were about to come to light.

However, regardless, the gruesome double killings have exposed a number of Murdaugh-related crimes, including inexplicable deaths, a multi-million dollar fraud case, and a failed hitman operation.

The disgraced South Carolina lawyer was given a life sentence on Friday. Murdaugh was convicted of all charges against him on Thursday, including two counts of murder and two counts of using a weapon to commit a violent felony.

The South Carolina Department of Corrections has now made available Alex Murdaugh‘s most recent mugshot, which shows the convicted murderer faintly smiling as he begins a lifelong prison term.

While Murdaugh is still being held by the state, his defense lawyer has come out to say that he has received hate mail as a result of having defended him during his notorious murder trial.

Dick Harpootlian reported that he had received texts calling him a “piece of scum” or wishing for him to pass away from “rectal cancer”.
