The graduation ceremony for Thomas Jefferson High School was canceled on Tuesday following a shooting outside Altria Theater after Huguenot High School’s convocation.

Several videos of the chaos after the shooting have surfaced on social media.

There are five confirmed victims, WTKR News 3 reported. Three of those sustained life-threatening injuries, while the other two are in “grave” condition. Two people were also taken into custody. Names have not been released yet.

Richmond Public Schools told NBC 12 that the incident took place outside their Monroe campus during Huguenot High School’s graduation ceremony. A subsequent graduation event for Thomas Jefferson High School has been canceled.

VCU first sent out an alert at 5 PM ET. Their second alert read: “The Richmond Police and VCU Police Departments, with support from Virginia State Police and Henrico Police, are on scene near the Altria Theater for a shooting incident. There is no ongoing threat to the community but there is a heavy police presence at Monroe Park. Richmond Police are leading the investigation.”

A witness, who goes by Michelle Foxx on Facebook, posted a live stream of the incident.

Richmond Mayor Levar M. Stoney tweeted: “Currently monitoring the situation at Monroe Park. In touch with RPD and RPS. Will make information available as it comes in. Please avoid the area.”

“RPD is on scene for a shooting located at Laurel Street and Franklin Street. Multiple injuries reported. There is no immediate threat to the public. Briefing to follow. Avoid the area,” the Richmond Police Department said on Twitter.
