John Michael Montgomery, the famous American country
music singer
, met an accident as his tour bus overturned on Friday, September
9. The 57-year-old country music singer was travelling to North Carolina when
the accident occurred. Three people, including Montgomery, were injured in the
accident.

In a Facebook post the following day, Montgomery
wrote: “Yesterday we had a serious accident on the way to a concert in North
Carolina. Despite some cuts and broken ribs, I am doing well. I will take some
time over the next couple of weeks to heal and be back on the road soon. I am
grateful to the medics and highway patrol for their quick response to this
difficult situation. Thanks to everyone for their concerns.”

Montgomery’s bus was travelling south along
I-75 near Jellico in Tennessee when it veered off the road and overturned,
according to WAVE-TV, a local broadcasting network in Tennessee.

The WAVE report also included images of the
crashed bus which can be seen blocking the travelling lane on the highway as
law enforcement assesses the scene. The two other people injured in the
accident were Marc Wood and William Slayer. The police report indicates that
Montgomery and Wood were wearing seatbelts while Slayer wasn’t.

John Michael Montgomery’s next show isn’t for
the next two weeks. It is scheduled to take place in Indiana, with three
additional tours rounding out this tour year.
