According to Annapolis Police, a 26-year-old woman was fatally shot in the city on Saturday.

Officers responded to a complaint of gunfire in the 1100 block of Madison Street around 10 o’clock. They discovered Amari Tydings of Annapolis there, who was wounded by several bullets. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives are looking into the incident, and they’re asking for anyone with information to call them at 410-260-3439 or call Metro Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-866-7LOCKUP.

On a related note, this is Annapolis’ third homicide of the year. It was also discovered that a boy had been shot last night in the vicinity of the same neighbourhood. This incident was reported to have taken place on Thursday, when authorities got a call around 4:25 p.m. 

Damar Simms, a 28-year-old Annapolis resident, claimed to have been shot while strolling on the 700 block of Newtowne Drive when he arrived at a nearby hospital. Simms did not name any suspects despite having a gunshot wound to his lower left leg. He said he heard a gunshot and ran away from the area.

Simms was treated and then released in stable condition. The event is still being investigated by authorities, and no one has been arrested yet.
