Late on Tuesday, a package burst on the Northeastern University campus in Boston, injuring a staff member, according to the university.

Authorities reported that the FBI was helping with the investigation after another suspicious parcel was discovered close to a well-known art gallery. One of two packages that were reported to police early in the evening included the one that exploded. On the fringes of the Northeastern campus, close to the city’s Museum of Fine Arts, Boston’s bomb squad defused a second device.

Are guns allowed inside Northwestern University?

Northwestern issued a new policy in 2015 that explicitly prohibits the possession, use, or storage of firearms regardless of whether a concealed carry permit is present.

The policy, in accordance with the Illinois Firearm Concealed Carry Act, aims to set clear expectations and guidelines on the University’s weapons ban.

The ban includes University property and vehicles, as well as University-sponsored events on and off campus, as well as any employee conducting University business. Law enforcement personnel and those whose jobs necessitate the use of both lethal and non-lethal weapons are exempt from the policy. Weapons can also be used in educational settings, university-sponsored athletic programmes, public ceremonies, parades, and theatrical performances.
