Audrey Hale, the transgender shooter who killed 6 people after breaking into the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, on Monday, reportedly dressed up as trans actress Eliott Page for Spring Week every year.

According to an unnamed source who knew Hale, said that they loved to dress up as Page’s iconic character, Juno, who was a pregnant teenager, during their time as a freshman at the Nashville School of arts. They were even nicknamed Juno due to this reason. Hale is a biological woman who identifies as a man. However, their pronouns have not been made official yet. The police continue to refer to them as “her” but their presently-defunct LinkedIn page says that they preferred to be called “he/him.”

“She was known for dressing up as Juno for spirit week with the sweatbands and baby bump and all,” the source told Daily Mail. “It was hilarious. People called her Juno for years. She really was a funny person. I don’t think it’s sunk in that she could have caused such a tragedy. Especially looking through these memories,” the friend told the publication, referring to Hale as “she/sher” because she identified as a woman back then.

Page publicly came out as transgender and non-binary in December 2020. “Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot,” he wrote in a message posted on his Instagram and Twitter accounts. “I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey.”

She added: “I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society.”
