The manager of a restaurant in Baltimore’s Little Italy neighborhood was killed in a shooting in Fells Point on Sunday night.

Chesley Patterson, 44, was shot around midnight and was rushed to Johns Hopkins Hospital by medics where he was pronounced dead a while later.

The victim worked as a manager at La Scala Ristorante Italiano, a restaurant located less than half a mile from where he was fatally shot. 

La Scala shared a post on Facebook regarding his death. 

“The La Scala family was devastated last night by the senseless violence that claimed the life of our beloved friend and General Manager,” a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page said. 

“Chesco as he was called by all of us was a warm, kind and familiar face to both staff and all who have dined with us over the last 17 years. He was leader to all and an invaluable part of our family,” the post said.

Several people took to the comments section to offer condolences.

“This is just so unbelievably sad. Prayers for his family and the La Scala family. He always greeted us with a smile and a hug and made us feel like family. He will be missed dearly,” one person commented.

“I’m so sad to hear of this tragic, senseless loss. My heart just breaks for the La Scala family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time,” another person wrote.

About two hours after Patterson was shot, cops responded to another shooting in Northeast Baltimore and found 51-year-old Cheryl McCormack will gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. Police said the victim, who was a mother of three and a grandmother, was fatally shot during “a robbery gone bad.”
