United States‘s former President Barack
Obama
hosted his 60th birthday party in the Martha Vineyard on Saturday amid
sharp criticism. Many Twitter users including activist Candace Owens who called
out Obama
for hosting a grand party amid rising cases of the Delta Variant of
the coronavirus in the US.

Amid the right, wrong debate, a video
has surfaced that has added fuel to the fire. In a now-deleted video posted
by Erykah Badu according to Dailymail, the former President can be seen
dancing maskless holding a microphone, and strutting his stuff in the
middle of the raised dance floor.

The video also shows Obama, who was
wearing an untucked, light grey patterned shirt and white pants together with
some black beads around his neck as he made his way across the floor, to cheers
from gathered guests. 

Badu, who performed with the members of
her band managed to convince Obama to get on stage as part of the celebration,
according to Daily Mail.

While it was announced that the event
was scaled down due to resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the US, one staff member
told Dialy Mail that at least 300-400 guests had attended the party.

This comes after Obama’s spokesperson
told CNN that the party was to be attended only by close friends and family in
view of COVID.

“This outdoor event was planned
months ago in accordance with all public health guidelines and with covid
safeguards in place. Due to the new spread of the delta variant over the past
week, the president and Mrs. Obama have decided to significantly scale back the
event to include only family and close friends,” Hannah Hankins, spokeswoman
for Obama, said in a statement to CNN on Wednesday. 

Reports had stated that all the US
Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention public health protocols will
be followed and all the guests will be tested for COVID-19.
