In connection with an early-Friday shooting that left 11 people injured near Louisiana’s Southern University, two persons have been detained as part of a “very fluid” investigation, according to authorities.

According to authorities, the incident occurred just before 2 am at a residence in Baton Rogue that was close to one of the university’s gates. The location is an off-campus fraternity house where a party was being held during the university’s homecoming week, WAFB reported.

Initially, nine people were stated to have non-life-threatening gunshot wounds; by Friday night, two more victims had come forward, according to Baton Rouge police Deputy Chief Myron Daniels, who did not provide any additional information regarding their situations.

Authorities said that two people have been detained in relation to the shooting investigation. Daniels, who spoke at a news conference on Friday night, the two were being arrested on preliminary accusations of accessory after the fact to attempted first-degree murder and unlawful use of weapons or hazardous instruments.

When asked if police were still searching for the person or people who fired the rounds, Daniels, who declined to take questions, did not go into detail about what the two were accused of doing. More information would be released, he added, adding that the inquiry was “ongoing and very fluid.”

“We do have something we have to follow up on,” the Daniels said.

Investigators, however, “believe this to be an isolated incident,” and “there is no ongoing threat on the campus of Southern University,” Daniels added.

A motive behind the shooting has not yet been disclosed by the police.
