Our friendly neighbourhood doctor is back, as Benedict Cumberbatch dons the cloak of levitation to reprise Marvel supernatural hero Doctor Strange for the latest Spider-Man movie installment.

Made by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, the film will be starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spiderman.

The two superheroes have already had an iconic first meet in Avengers: Infinity War.

However, watching Dr. Strange team up with Spider-Man in a mingling of science and mysticism will be fascinating for the Marvel faithfuls.

Seemingly, the Sorcerer Supreme will take up the mentor role that was previously occupied by Robert Downey Jr., who played Tony Stark/Iron Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and by Samuel L. Jackson, as Nick Fury, in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

‘Spider-Man 3’ is due to begin shooting in Atlanta later in October although it is unclear when and where Cumberbatch will shoot his scenes.

Director Jon Watts, the filmmaker behind Homecoming and last year’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, will also be at the helm of the third film, which Sony has dated for a December 17, 2021 release, although release dates are expected to change owing to the pandemic.

Earlier in the week, it was also announced that Jamie Foxx, who played Electro in the Andrew Garfield-starring The Amazing Spider-Man 2, would also be back as the classic Spidey villain in the new film.
