Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders recently drew attention on social media due to the outfit he wore for the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris inauguration on January 20.

Dressed in a grey coloured parka, along with colourful mittens, the Senator looked cozy and warm amid the biting cold weather. Twitterati was quick to notice his look and memes instantly flood the social media platform. His ensemble even got its own Twitter page. Full of hilarious memes and jokes the page definitely is a delight.

According to a recent article by NY Post, the mittens had been gifted to the Senator by a school teacher in Essex Junction, near the town of Burlington of which Sanders served as mayor in the 1980s. They were made out of recycled sweaters, and were hence give the name ‘swittens’. 

After the ceremony, the viral pictures of Sanders’ outfit sparked a  widespread hunt for an identical pair online by users.

The Vermont teacher, Jen Ellis, who made them told the Jewish Insider that she had received more than 6,000 requests on Tuesday, NY Post reported.

 Ellis admitted that she was “flattered that Bernie wore them to the inauguration,” but unfortunately, would not be able to keep up with the rising demand for them.

“Sadly, I have no more mittens for sale,” she posted on her Twitter account.

“I hate to disappoint people, but the mittens, they’re one-of-a-kind and they’re unique,” Ellis reportedly told the Jewish Insider. 

“And sometimes in this world, you just can’t get everything you want.”
