Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella broke his silence about all the talks surrounding the behaviour of the company’s co-founder Bill Gates on Friday, saying that the company now prioritised diversity and inclusion and looked into issues raised by every employee regarding work.

“The Microsoft of 2021 is very different from the Microsoft of 2000 to me and to everyone at Microsoft,” Nadella told CNBC. “I feel that we have created an environment that allows us to really drive the everyday improvement in our diversity and inclusion culture, which I think is a super important thing and that’s what I’m focused on”.

The board members of the company looked into the matter as they opened an investigation on Gates two years ago after an employee said that the billionaire founder had an affair with her in 2000 that spanned for many years, Business Insider quotes The Wall Streett Journal.

Several Microsoft employees came forward and told that there were times when Gates’s behaviour made them feel uncomfortable at work.  The reports emerged after the announcement of Gates and Melinda’s divorce, reported Business Insider.

Nadella on Friday told CNBC, “power dynamic in the workplace is not something that needs to be abused”, and also emphasised that the company is different today than what it was 20 years ago.
