Let’s be real, internet is a scary world. One can access your address and images of your home in a really easy way. Google compromises your privacy in quite a “legal” way. Unfortunately, you cannot keep your address off the Google Maps. However, there’s a way you can hide your property on the Google Street View.

The Street View mode was launched in 2007 and since then it has become a privacy concern for many. The service has exposed a good number of vehicle plate numbers, official buildings and even the interior of people’s house and garage. This gives an intimate window to strangers to peek into our homes. Although, blurring your property on Google Maps is quite easy and anyone can do it.

How to hide your house on Google Maps:

1.
Open Google Maps and type your
address.

2.
Enter into the Street View mode and look to the bottom right-hand corner of the screen for the icon labelled “Report a
problem”.

3.
Click on the icon and center the
red box on your home.

4.
Select “My home” in the
“Request blurring field”.

5.
Fill out the form and type the
verification code at the bottom of the page and then click “submit”.

6.
Check back in the few days to see
if the submitted image is blurred.

Remember that these changes are permanent. Once you request to blur the image, it cannot be reversed. Also, it is not known how long does Google take to process the request.

You can also get your license plates and faces blurred. The process seems to work and is absolutely free.
