A body was pulled from an artificial lake near SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Wednesday.

Firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived at the scene Monday morning after CCTV captured an individual jumping into the lake, but not resurfacing.

Divers with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau and deputies with the Inglewood Police Department soon arrived at the scene and found the body around 12:40 pm on Wednesday.

Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts said in a press conference that the body was that of a 45-year-old male. He jumped over multiple locked fences to enter the property before he was last seen on Wednesday morning. His name was not released. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.

Offcials were unsure why the man entered the property.

“Honestly, this is someone that made a conscious decision to trespass onto the property, get into the lake and he ended up having some distress and difficulty. So I don’t think there’s anything that SoFi (Stadium) could have done to prevent this,” Butts said at the press conference.

SoFi Stadium is the home stadium of the NFL‘s Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers. The 70,000-seat sports and entertainment complex hosted the Super Bowl LVI, which was won by the Los Angeles Rams.

The artificial lake is part of the SoFi Stadium recycled water project. The stadium site has 27 recycled water connections and two decorative lakes that act as irrigation reservoirs for the surrounding park. Both the lakes have a depth of about 15 feet.
