The 127th Boston Marathon, which will be run on April 17, Patriots’ Day, will feature 30,000 participants from 122 nations, representing all 50 states. It is the world’s oldest marathon.
For the first time, the race will feature a category for nonbinary runners, joining New York and Chicago as other major marathons to have increased their inclusivity.
Boston Marathon Event Details:
Route and Course Map – The race officially starts in Hopkinton, a suburb around 26 miles outside of the city center. Runners follow Route 135 through Ashland, Framingham, Natick, and Wellesley to Route 16, where they will run by Newton Lower Falls before arriving at Commonwealth Avenue (Route 30).
Then, runners will move toward the most iconic part of the course, following Commonwealth Avenue, along Heartbreak Hill. Then, the route travels through Beacon Street, Brookline, Kenmore Square, and under Massachusetts Avenue, before finally taking Boylston Street to the finish at Boston Public Library in Copley Square.

Live streaming – The event will be available to live stream on Very Local Boston. It will be aired on ESPN from 8:30 am to 1 pm ET. The race will be aired locally on WCVB (Channel 5) in Boston from 4 am to 8 pm ET.

Runner Tracking – The Boston Athletic Association has an app that allows users to track runners throughout the day. Add bib numbers or names to track participants and receive alerts when they pass certain points on the course.
