Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School, Ohio students were sent back home on Friday due to a threat. Authorities say they are investigating but the seriousness of the threat has not been substantiated.

After one student reported overhearing another student making a threat, the removal was made out of caution.

Students were placed on “soft lockdown,” which meant they were instructed to remain in their classrooms but were not locked inside. This only affected kids at the high school and did not affect any other buildings in the district.

A letter issued to parents by the school read-

“While the alleged threat for violence has not been substantiated, building leaders believe that safety is a priority and that the productivity of the school day has been compromised. The BBHCSD is acting out of an abundance of caution, in order to keep everyone safe.

Brecksville-Broadview Heights Middle School and Elementary School will remain open for the remainder of the school day, and students and staff there have been determined to be safe and secure by our public safety team, as the alleged threat was focused at the High School.”

Around 200 miles from Ohio, as many as 40 schools in Indiana were affected by a bomb threat. They received an email. The threat was in Arabic script. Due to the threat e-learning is being implemented in most schools in Indiana.

According to call records obtained by NPR, in October 2022, Virginia, Minnesota, Ohio, and Florida all made phony school shooting calls that were disturbingly similar to a wave of bogus bomb threats that officials tracked in March and April of last year in areas like Minnesota.

Those calls have persisted for nearly every week. Hundreds of additional schools have received enigmatic swatting calls in the last few months. The FBI has intervened to conduct an investigation due to the size and scope of the problem.
