Outside a Bronx banquet hall early Sunday, a gunman opened fire at a crowd, killing one and wounded one more, according to the police.

When the shooter shot about 5 shots, the group was standing outside Casa Bella Hall on E. 187th St. near Hughes Ave. in Belmont at about 1:45 a.m. A 21-year-old man was struck in the chest. A 22-year-old man, on the other hand, was shot in the buttocks. The two of them managed to run around the corner before collapsing on Hughes Avenue.

After first responders arrived at the scene, the medics took both men to St. Barnabas Hospital. The younger victim died at the hospital while the older victim is in stable condition.

The motive behind the shooting is yet to be determined. According to police sources, the wounded man had one prior criminal possession of a weapon.
