Following a mass shooting at a Walmart store in Chesapeake, Virginia, which left 10 dead and several others injured on Tuesday night, an employee who witnessed the incident but was spared by the gunman has spoken out. He said he was in the break room at the time.

Referring to the gunman, the staff member said: “He blew his brains out and everything. He killed the girl in there and everything. He came in and started spraying. I’m sorry for the victims. I just left the break room, the manager come in there and started capping people up in there, started shooting. Sadly we lost a few of our associates.”

“It was a traumatic experience,” he later revealed to DailyMail.com. His Facebook live video recalling the incident from outside of Walmart has gone viral on Twitter. 

At one point in the video, he asks a person standing near him, “Oh he killed Brian?” and on the confirmation, he says, “Oh no.”

A second Walmart employee, who showed up for their nightshift shortly after the shooting, told reporters: ‘Thank goodness I showed up late.”

According to witnesses at the Sam’s Circle Walmart, located just off Battlefield Boulevard, one of the managers entered the break room and started shooting at people before killing himself. Many of the witnesses have identified the manager as Andre Bing. However, the same has not been confirmed by the authorities. 

The police have confirmed that they found the gunman dead on the scene. However, the authorities have not revealed if he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. One of the Walmart employees claimed the shooter turned the gun on himself.

Five patients were being treated for injuries at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, the area’s top trauma center.

As many as 40 emergency service vehicles were spotted at the scene, following the shooting. Many are thought to be seriously hurt.
