Cheslie Kryst, fomer Miss USA, died after allegedly jumping from a New York City high-rise on Sunday. She was 30.
Confirming her death to the PEOPLE, her family said ‘we know her impact will live on’. As per a New York Post report, authorities said that Kryst jumped off a building at 350 W. 42nd Street, New York City around 7:15 AM local time. The ‘Extra’ correspondent reportedly lived on the ninth floor of the Orion building and was last seen on a 29th-floor terrace.

“In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie. Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined,” Kryst’s family said Sunday in a statement.
“Cheslie embodied love and served others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA and as a host on Extra. But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague – we know her impact will live on,” they added, further asking for privacy.

Entertainment website Extra offered its “deepest condolences to all her family and friends” in another statement obtained by PEOPLE on Sunday.
“Our hearts are broken. Cheslie was not just a vital part of our show, she was a beloved part of our Extra family and touched the entire staff. Our deepest condolences to all her family and friends,” the statement read.

Kryst, who was an attorney by profession, was crowned Miss USA as Miss North Carolina in May 2019. She had modeled for Express and served as an ambassador for the retail company. She was also on the National Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
