On Saturday night in the western suburbs, a tragic shooting occurred inside a hotel, resulting in the death of one individual. At approximately 8:30 p.m., authorities from Oakbrook Terrace, along with officers from neighboring districts, responded to a distress call reporting shots fired at the Hilton Suites situated at 10 Drury Lane.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered an individual with apparent gunshot wounds. Promptly initiating life-saving measures, the officers sustained their efforts until paramedics reached the scene. Subsequently, the victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where, regrettably, they were pronounced dead.

In the aftermath of an exhaustive search of the hotel premises, a person of interest was apprehended by law enforcement. It has been asserted that the shooting was an isolated incident, reassuring the community that there is no ongoing threat.

The Oakbrook Terrace Police Department is leading the investigation, collaborating with the DuPage County Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigative Team (MERIT), the DuPage County Coroner’s Office, and the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office. As of the latest update on Sunday, no criminal charges have been filed.
