Two shooting incidents were reported on a Sunday afternoon in east Columbus in close proximity. The incident claimed the lives of two people and left one injured.

The shooting locations were within 0.2 miles of one another, making the distance between the occurrences incredibly close.

The shooting incident was reported in the 1400 block of East Mound Street at 12:35 p.m. Police officers were dispatched to the scene. They discovered a man who had been shot at the spot. The injured person was transferred to Grant Medical Center right away since his injuries were deemed life-threatening and he was in serious condition.

A second person who was critically injured arrived at Ohio State University East Hospital not long after the first gunshot on East Mound Street. But both victims’ health quickly got worse, and shortly after 1 p.m., they were both declared dead.

Officers reported hearing rounds fired close while conducting an investigation at the scene of the initial shooting on East Mound Street, suggesting that there may have been another shooting nearby.

The second incident took place five minutes walk away from where the first gunshot took place, at the intersection of East Fulton Street and Kelton Avenue.

One victim was discovered at the location with a gunshot wound and was taken in stable condition to Grant Medical Center around 1:50 p.m., according to a dispatcher. The gunshot on East Fulton Street, according to the local police, was the consequence of some sort of disturbance, and they have detained a suspect in connection with that incident.

Additionally, a police officer present at the scene said the two shootings are unrelated, indicating that they are distinct incidents with no relationship at all. Police officials are still investigating the shooting.
