Comedian and actor Rosie O’Donnell issued an apology after an ’embarrassing’ encounter with Priyanka Chopra wherein she mistook the actor’s identity.
During her recent outing in Malibu, O’Donnell ran into Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra at a restaurant. While greeting the couple, she mistakenly thought Priyanka was the daughter of the Indian-origin American author Deepak Chopra.

In a video apology posted on TikTok and Instagram, the 59-year-old comedian detailed the conversation and offered an apology to the global star. “Seated next to us was Nick Jonas and his wife, someone Chopra … Which I always assumed was Deepak Chopra’s daughter. So when I said, ‘Hi Nick Jonas, you were great in Kingdom, and, ‘Hi (Priyanka) I know your dad’. She goes, ‘You do? Who’s my dad?’ And I go, ‘Deepak’. And she goes, ‘No… and Chopra’s a common name (sic).”

“Didn’t you think Nick Jonas was married to Deepak Chopra’s wife? Am I the only one who thought that? I had one job and I messed it up. Nick Jonas, I apologise and to the Chopra wife, I apologise,” she added.
In the second video, O’Donnell apologised to Priyanka Chopra and clarified that people wrongly assumed the latter to be rude. “People thought she was rude but she was not rude, it was just awkward. She’s apparently a very well known actress and more famous than him (Nick) people were saying. So I’m sure it felt weird to her to begin with. Anyway, Priyanka is her name. And I just want to apologise to her and to everyone who thought it was inappropriate of me,” added O’Donnell.
