As Louisville, Kentucky shooter Connor Sturgeon made his way into the Old National Bank on Monday and killed 5 people, his mother called 911 after hearing from someone that her son was headed toward the bank with a gun.

The call was made by Sturgeon’s mother at 8:41 a.m. local time, CNN reported. Unfortunately, it happened to be 3 minutes after the first 911 call was made regarding the shooting. In the call, she told the emergency operator that her son’s roommate had told her that Sturgeon was carrying a gun with him.

“I don’t know anything,” she said in a distressful voice. “But we don’t even own guns; I don’t know where he would have gotten a gun he doesn’t own any guns.”

She told the operator repeatedly that her son is not violent. “He’s never hurt anyone; he’s a really good kid. Please don’t punish him,” she said to the operator. “He’s nonviolent; he’s never done anything.”

The mother, who has not been named, seemed unsure about what she should do next. She asked the operator if she should go to the bank. The operator then told her that she already received multiple calls from Old National Bank.

“You’ve had calls from other people? So he’s already there?” she asked. After the operator confirmed the same, the operator added, “I am advising you not to go to the location because it is [an] unsafe location and officers are already at the location, ma’am.”

The mother said goodbye after thanking the operator.

It was also reported that Sturgeon texted “I love you” to his family just minutes before the massacre. His roommate said he had no idea about his close friend’s deadly plan.
