In a deliberate attack, according to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus, a male under the age of 18 was the intended target of the drive-by shooting.
A 60-year-old woman, a 16-year-old kid, and a 5-year-old boy were among the other victims, according to McManus, who emphasized that the attack was “not random.”

The attack took place outside an apartment building, where an undetermined number of suspects are said to have pulled up in cars, opened fire on the victims, and then fled the area.
When the assailant started shooting, the youngest child was inside the targeted vehicle while the others were standing outside.
Following the incident, all four victims were taken to the hospital, but there have been no further updates on their health.

Investigations are still ongoing, no one has been arrested, and it is unknown how many suspects were involved.
After the attack, the police chief stated that authorities have information on a suspect vehicle but would not provide any other information.
‘Drive-by shootings are always dangerous to not only the intended target but to other people who happen to be in the line of fire,’ McManus said.
‘Unfortunately, in this case, there were three other people who were not the intended target.
‘This was not random… we’re speaking to the intended target – who we believe is the intended target.’
The apartment complex, named Costa Biscaya, was ‘not on the radar’ of law enforcement as a problem area.
‘Drive-bys can happen anywhere, it just depends on where the person that the shooters are after – it just depends on where they are. It can happen anywhere,’ said McManus.
