An appeals court ruled on Wednesday that Rudy Giuliani, a close aide of former US President Donald Trump and attorney, will not be permitted to practice law in the national capital of the United States, Washington DC.

The news comes after Giuliani was temporarily halted from practicing law in the state of New York for promoting false claims of election fraud in the United States.

The court’s ruling stated that Giuliani’s license to practice law in Washington DC  is temporarily being restricted due to his “pending outcome” situation in the judicial matters of New York.

Even though the 77-year-old is not frequently part of court proceedings anymore, he did step into the courtroom to represent Donald Trump’s claims of voter fraud and attempted to overturn the voting results in the 2020 Presidential elections while targeting states like Pennsylvania.

While passing the judgment on Giuliani’s possible suspension on practicing law in the state of New York, the court ruled that there was enough evidence to know that the former Mayor of New York City “communicated demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump’s failed effort at reelection in 2020,” according to reports from CNN.

However, Giuliani countered the ruling of the New York court and said none of those things he stated while backing his legal client triggered any “protest, riot, incident or anything” while speaking at Newsmax.

The New York stated that the decision was based on statements given by Giuliani on multiple TV appearances, podcasts, press conferences, one court appearance and legislative hearings of the state, according to reports from CNN.

After the ruling on June 24, the 77-year-old said he would challenge the decision in another court of law.
