Social media users are pointing a finger at the Republican Party after a shooting school at Covenant School – a Christian, private elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee, claimed the lives of at least 3 children on Monday.

According to the police, they engaged with officers and killed the shooter. “We are responding to an active aggressor at 33 Burton Hills Blvd Covenant School. We can confirm we have multiple patients,” the Nashville Fire Department said Monday. “Parents coming to the school should go to 20 Burton Hills at this time, this is an active scene,” the statement continued.

Three students were transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt with gunshot wounds. None of them survived the attack. A video showed other students being rushed to safety away from the crime scene. They were driven in school buses lined with police cruisers to reunite with their parents at Woodmont Baptist Church.

“An active shooter event has taken place at Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Burton Hills Dr. The shooter was engaged by MNPD and is dead. Student reunification with parents is at Woodmont Baptist Church, 2100 Woodmont Blvd.,” the department wrote in a statement.

“Christ, another mass shooting at an elementary school, Nashville Tennessee three children dead. Stop letting the GOP pretend they could care about babies. They hate babies, they just love controlling women and they love The NRA,” one Twitter user wrote, while another mentioned, “BREAKING: Another mass shooting has been reported at a school, this one at Covenant School in Nashville Tennessee. 3 children and the shooter are dead. The shooter did not act alone. He was aided by the NRA, as well as 49 GOP United States Senators.”

“Another Mass School Shooting, This Time in Nashville, Tennessee. But…. Thank God the GOP is Dealing With TIkTok Instead. Thoughts & Prayers?” another cone commented, while another said, The @gop is responsible for these deaths! 3 more children slaughtered today in Nashville Tennessee. More injured! Keep banning books instead of guns! Insanity 2.0.”

One more noted, “News: #schoolshooting at Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee. GOP: We know. Thoughts and prayers…..Anywho, NRA just sent us a check…..on to book bans, TikTok bad, and scary drag queens….because you know that is what truly is scarring kids these days.”

US Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee released a statement saying, “Chuck & I are heartbroken to hear about the shooting at Covenant School in Nashville. My office is in contact with federal, state, & local officials, & we stand ready to assist. Thank you to the first responders working on site. Please join us in prayer for those affected.”
