A woman opened fire inside Dallas Love Field Airport on Monday morning, prompting evacuation and halting flight operations for several hours.

Portia Odufuwa, 37, entered the airport just before 11 am. She went to the restroom and changed clothes. She then exited the restroom wearing a hoody and pulled out a gun before firing several shots, most of which appeared to be directed toward the ceiling.

“At this point, we don’t know where exactly the individual was aiming. From what we are seeing she was aiming at the ceiling,” Garcia said. ” There are several rounds that were found.”

Officer confronted her and shot her in her lower extremities. She was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital.

“Odufuwa went inside a women’s restroom and a short time later comes out into the ticket counter area and fires a weapon several times,” Dallas Police Department said in a blog post.

“A member of the Dallas Police department nearby quickly engaged with the suspect, firing their weapon and hitting the [woman] in the lower extremities…There were no passengers or DPD officers who were injured. The suspect was transported to a local hospital.”

No one else was injured in the incident.

Several people who were at the airport shared first-hand accounts of evacuations on social media.

Pockwall Chief of Police Max Geron tweeted, “Just got evacuated out of Love Field after an apparent shooting. Family is safe. TSA did a great job.”

“This was frightening. Waiting for flight home at #lovefield, everyone in the terminal began running for the gates in sheer panic. Supposedly active shooter at ticket counter. @SouthwestAir staff were amazing, doing everything to get us to safety,” another person wrote.
