A judge decided to take under advisement the motion to release court documents regarding the deaths of two Delphi teenagers. During a hearing on Tuesday, the judge stated that she will issue an order at a later date.
Richard Allen’s bond hearing is scheduled for February 17. A hearing which was previously scheduled for January has been post-poned to February 17th as well.
The prosecutor also stated in court that there is reason to believe Allen is not the only person responsible for the deaths of Libby German and Abby Williams, as there is a possibility of Richard Allen having an accomplice.
“Our client is the wrong guy,” said Andrew Baldwin, Richard Allen’s defence attorney.
Allen claims in his petition to be released on bail that since “neither the proof of guilt is evident, nor the presumption of guilt is strong, the Accused is seeking a hearing to release the Accused.” Allen is requesting that the court reduce his bail to a “reasonable” amount or discharge him on his own recognisance.

Allen was escorted into the Carroll County Courthouse on November 22 under strict security. Minutes later, Libby German’s parents came and entered the courthouse to see the man accused of killing their daughter.
Outside of court, all legal parties and family members associated were barred from speaking.

Allen was moved out of court after the hearing, which lasted about 30 minutes. On October 26, 2022, detectives from the Delphi Double Homicide Task Force took the 50-year-old Delphi resident Richard Matthew Allen into custody at the Indiana State Police Post in West Lafayette.
He was arrested and taken to the Carroll County Jail, where he remained until Friday, October 28, when he was moved to the White County Jail. On October 28, Allen was officially charged with two counts of murder in the February 2017 killings of Libby German and Abby Williams.
