It is believed that the welfare check tip passed on to the police came from Keeley’s friend after the suspect told the tipster that he had been living with the couple as a favor to a family member in the recent past. However, he had recently been asked to leave. This made Keeley angry because he was afraid that he would end up homeless after a woman who had initially considered letting Keeley stay with her in Weymouth had thrown him out.
The documents said that Keeley told the friend that what prompted him to attack the couple was an argument over a barking dog. The friend has also divulged that Keeley had been recently acting “psychotic” and that he had confessed that he was feeling the urge to hurt people, including the couple he lived with. He was also known to carry knives.
