Former US President Donald Trump was not invited to late British monarch Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in London earlier. However, the British government has now included him in the guest list for a memorial service for the recently departed Queen in Washington DC which is slated to take place on September 21.
“A Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” the invitation to the memorial service reads, as reported by The Telegraph.

Apart from Trump, other former US Presidents Barrack Obama, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, along with their wives have also been invited to the service. The invitations were sent out by the British government on Thursday, September 15.
The memorial service will be organized at the National Cathedral in Washington DC next Wednesday, September 21. The Cathedral also hosted state funerals of as many as four ex-US Presidents — Dwight Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford and George HW Bush (41st President).
The National Cathedral has a capacity of around 1,700 people and is expected to be full for the event. While several former US Presidents have been invited and are likely to attend, UK Prime Minister Liz Truss is not expected to attend the service.
The memorial service for Queen Elizabeth II is being organized by the British Embassy in Washington and is also expected to see several senior members of the US Congress and foreign ambassadors.
Incumbent US President Joe Biden was invited to the Queen’s funeral in London, whereas Trump, who met the Queen on a visit to the United Kingdom in 2018, was not.
“Melania and I are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” the former US President wrote on Truth Social.
