Donald Trump often clogged up toilets after attempting to flush documents, new photos reveal. The photos surfaced hours after the former President said his Florida residence Mar-a-Lago was searched by the FBI. While no official reason for the raid is known, media reports suggest it was carried out to investigate if Trump had taken away any confidential White House documents with him.

The photos are set to be published in the book ‘Confidence Man’, which has been written by New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman. The photos were first published by Axios.

The handwriting on the flushed notes seems to be similar to the former President’s. The note has been made using a black marker. However, the text is unclear.

Haberman said in a statement to CNN: “Who knows what this paper was? Only he would know and presumably whoever was dealing with it, but the important point is about the records.”

Haberman also clarified in a social media post on Monday that one photo was from a White House toilet. The other photo was from an overseas trip that Donald Trump went on during his presidential term. It was shared by an unnamed source.

Trump’s White House staffers have previously reported that the former President often ripped up documents after reading them, a practice that is prohibited for the US President. All presidential documents, even if handwritten, are submitted to the National Archives.

CNN reported that Donald Trump once asked if any of his staffers on Air Force One wanted to sell a draft of his speech on an e-Bay auction. He also asked his aides to carry boxes of unread memos, articles and tweet drafts to the plane, where he would reportedly shred the documents.

Trump had locked horns with the National Archives earlier this year for missing documents. The matter is now being investigated by the US Department of Justice.
