Donald Trump’s deposition video from the E. Jean Carroll civil battery and defamation trial was released on Friday. The former president, in the 48-minute footage, can be seen mistaking his accuser for ex-wife Marla Maples.

The footage is from last October. It included the former president mistaking a picture of his accuser, E Jean Carroll, for one of his second wife Marla Maples.

“That’s Marla, yeah. That’s my wife,” Trump can be seen saying.

“The person you’ve just pointed to is E Jean Carroll,” his questioner corrects him.

Carroll, an American journalist and author, accused Donald Trump of raping her in a department store in New York in the 1990s. She sued the Republican leader for battery and defamation after he made certain comments while denying the charges.

Carroll’s attorney Roberta Kaplan had shown Trump a late-1980s photo of him with his then-wife Ivana, Carroll and her then-husband John Johnson only to see him confused.

When Trump was corrected, he said that the photo was “very blurry.”

“I say with as much respect as I can but she is not my type. Not my type in any way, shape, or form,” he said, adding that he would not have interest in Kaplan either.

“You wouldn’t be a choice of mine either, to be honest with you, I hope you’re not insulted,” Trump said.

Maples was Trump’s second wife. Their affair made headlines back in the 1980s. In the deposition, Trump was asked if he had seen other women while married to his first wife.

“I don’t know,” he said.

In the deposition, Donald Trump also described another woman – Jessica Leeds – who accused of sexual assault as “not my first choice, that I can tell you … that would not be my first choice”.
