President Donald Trump on Wednesday explicitly named Iran
for Sunday rocket attack on US embassy in Baghdad, saying he heard that more such attacks may come from the Islamic country.
“Our embassy in Baghdad got hit Sunday by several rockets.
Three rockets failed to launch. Guess where they were from: IRAN. Now we hear chatter
of additional attacks against Americans in Iraq,” Trump said in tweet which was
posted with a picture of three rockets which, he said, failed to launch.
The president who will demit office on January 20 said he
will hold Iran responsible for any casualty emerging from such attacks.
“Some friendly health advice to Iran: If one American is
killed, I will hold Iran responsible. Think it over,” he said.
The US has voiced concerns over the possibility of Iranians
trying to avenge the killing of their military general Qasem Soleimani by
attacks on US bases in the Middle East. Soleimani was killed by the US forces in
a drone attack this year on January 3.
On Sunday, the US Embassy in Baghdad was attacked with rockets
which failed to cause any human casualty but damaged material structure around
the embassy. The embassy responded to the attack by activating its C-RAM rocket
defense system.

Three of the rockets fell near the embassy and two other hit the
neighborhood area, AFP had reported on Sunday.
