US President Donald Trump, who tested positive for coronavirus on Friday, will be discharged from the Walter Reed Medical Centre on Monday evening, as per EST. The US President tweeted, “I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!”
On Sunday, US President Donald Trump was given the steroid drug dexamethasone, Dr Brian Garibaldi, one of the physicians treating the President said. This was done after his oxygen level dipped on more than one occasion.
His wife Melania Trump also tested positive for coronavirus.
US President Donald Trump tested positive for COVID-19, but did not disclose the result before appearing on the Fox News on Thursday, claims Wall Street Journal. The US President had asked his adviser to not make the rapid test result public as he waited for a detailed report.
Trump’s physicians said they decided to give him dexamethasone after his oxygen levels dropped twice — on Thursday night and into early Friday morning, White House physician Dr Sean Conley told reporters outside the medical center.
The President “was doing well with only mild symptoms” and his oxygen level was in the high 90s — but then late Friday morning, “the President had a high fever and his oxygen saturation was transiently dipping below 94%,” Conley said.
He was given supplemental oxygen.
“And after about a minute on only two liters, his saturation levels were back over 95%. He stayed on that for about an hour maybe, and was off and gone,” Conley said.
Meanwhile, Trump’s personal assistant, Nicholas Luna, also tested positive hours after the President and First lady. Kellyanna Conway-former adviser, Chris Christie-New Jersey governor and Sen Mike Lee of Utah have also tested positive for COVID-19.
