Authorities in Fairfax County, Virginia, reported on Monday that two men were killed and two others were injured in a gunshot and stabbing at an apartment complex in the Falls Church neighborhood.

The 2200 block of Pimmit Run Lane, south of Leesburg Pike (Route 7), is where the shooting and stabbing took place. According to Fairfax County police, 911 reports reporting a shooting started to come in shortly after 3:30 p.m.

After being shot, two males were pronounced dead. Two young people were stabbed, but their wounds weren’t life-threatening. Their ages weren’t right away disclosed.

Eli Cory, a deputy with the Fairfax County Police Department, said at a news conference on Monday that when police got on the site, they discovered two men—one shot and dead in the apartment complex’s laundry room, and the other dead in the parking lot.

After being discovered in the parking lot, the man was brought to a local hospital, where he eventually passed away.

Two young people with non-life-threatening stab wounds were also sent to a neighboring hospital, according to Cory.

According to police, everyone involved got together “for a specific reason.” They are trying to figure out what brought them all together, said investigators.

It’s unclear right now how the two men and both youngsters are connected, according to Cory. They were from outside the region, he claimed. One of the young people is, according to reports, from Loudoun County.

Detectives were able to find a knife at the scene as well as a backpack containing drugs throughout the investigation.

When 7News visited the location on Monday, one apartment complex resident informed that this was rare for the area.

The situation, according to Fairfax County police, is under control and poses no danger to the public’s safety.

Initially, according to police, several suspects were observed escaping an adjacent apartment complex. Cory noted that it wasn’t obvious if those escaping were involved in the incident or were just trying to get away from it.
