The fantasy comic and film giant, Warner Bros. Pictures released the first look of Mortal Kombat’s live-action film just a day after actor Lewis Tan teased the fans with hints. The first-look photos released are simply a follow-up teaser and do not give off any important plots or spoilers about the film. The photos have confirmed that Lewis Tan will be playing the role of Cole Young in the fiction film.

The Mortal Kombat movie, which is being produced by Todd Garner and James Wan, is featuring big names as Hiroyuki Sanada (Scorpion), Chin Han (Shand Tsung), Jessica McNamee (Soniya Blade), Ludi Lin (Liu Kang), Lewis Tan (Cole Young) and Joe Taslim (Sub-Zero). The film, being directed by Simon McQuoid,  has secured an ‘R’ rating, unlike the previous Mortal Kombat movies.

The NetherRealm Studios, which is releasing the reprised sequel to the franchise which made its debut in 1995, embraced the release of skins based on the film and reviving a few roles with actors who played characters in the previous films.

The film is expected to be released on April 16 in theaters and HBO Max, like many other 2021 releases by Warner Bros. Pictures.
