New Jersey police officials shot and killed a man allegedly armed with a knife, NBC New York reported, citing Mayor Mark Sokolich. The incident unfolded at a John Street townhouse in Fort Lee around 8 AM on Saturday.

Sokolich added that the man, who may have been from Las Vegas, was exhibiting “threatening behavior”. It is also believed that the man was in possession of a knife.

Authorities said an emotionally disturbed man was visiting relatives at the Cedar Court Condo Complex in Fort Lee when he started making threats.

One of the responding officers was injured by a ricocheting bullet, Sokolich said but was expected to survive. Four other cops were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Additional details and the identity of the victim have not been released yet. The investigation is ongoing.
