Fox News host Tucker Carlson has now accused US Vice President Kamala Harris of inciting the Ukraine invasion, following her joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda, Newsweek reported.

During the conference, an interviewer asked Harris if “the United States is willing to make a specific allocation for Ukrainian refugees?”, and also quizzed the Polish head of state if a request had been put in with the US to “specifically accept more refugees”.

To this, Harris laughed briefly, looked at Duda and responded “a friend in need is a friend indeed”. The Polish president also addressed the reporter saying that Poland needed international aid while dealing with Ukraine’s refugee crisis as many flee the war-torn country.

However, Carlson took umbrage to Harris’ comment and said “More than a million people fleeing in the wake of an invasion that you, Kamala Harris, incited [and] certainly failed to defuse”. The conservative host continued on his show ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’, exclaiming “And then you laugh about it. That’s who she is”.

Carlson, who had thus far, refused to acknowledge the Russian invasion of Ukraine has recently apologized but he took the opportunity to again hit out at Harris. According to the news host, Biden’s decision to send Harris to the Munich Security Conference in February made Carlson feel that the situation wasn’t serious enough.

He said, “The situation appears to be more chaotic by the day, possibly even spinning out of control”, and added, “And that, we must be honest, is shocking to us. We’ve been taken by surprise by the whole thing. We’re not the only ones who were, but we’re willing to admit it. The only thing more embarrassing than being wrong in your estimates is pretending that you weren’t. So why didn’t we see this coming?”

Carlson went on to say “We assumed that if things were dire, serious people would be involved in fixing them. But we looked up and saw Kamala Harris involved, and that reassured us. Harris had just come back from Europe where she’d been conducting ‘diplomacy’ with our allies, and that appeared to be proof this could not really be a big deal”.

Recently, Carlson faced some criticism for having downplayed the situation at Ukraine’s borders and having sided with Russian President Vladimir Putin before he invaded the neighbouring country.
